Seamus Fogarty – The Evening Lay Down Upon Us

Don't miss out on this...

Hailing from Ireland, Seamus Fogarty seems to occupy his own universe.

Sweetly poetic, each song to emerge from his pen covers its own distinct area; whether that means mountains that steal t-shirts or women who look like dinosaurs you can be guaranteed that Seamus Fogarty will deliver something powered by a rare sense of imagination.

Debut album 'God Damn You Mountain' was released earlier this year via Scottish label Fence, and earned Fogarty comparisons to greats such as John Martyn and James Yorkston. In reality, though, while those comparisons were certainly useful – and flattering – the Irish artist only really sounds like himself.

Seemingly destined to gain a cult following, 'God Damn You Mountain' is something that ClashMusic have been coming back to again and again over the closing months of 2012. Relaxing but with a surreal, playful edge each song lives by its own rules, its own code of conduct.

As an end of year treat, ClashMusic readers have been granted first pick on Seamus Fogarty's new video. Here's a note from the artist himself:

"This is a live remix of the last track off my album God Damn You Mountain that I did for a radio session back in April. The video is an odd combination of archive footage, photos and sketches and is loosely based on 24 hours in my life – it was never meant to get this far."
