Premiere: ZONES – ‘Tides’

Drifting cosmic pop from Toronto...

ZONES could come from anywhere.

There's a universal feeling to their drifting, woozily unsettling brand of cosmic pop, the degraded electronics set against some exquisite pop moments.

Upcoming album 'After Image' follows a string of digital releases, ZONES stamping out a unique but immediately recognisable universe.

Clash is able to premiere the video for new cut 'Tides', and it sets the project's eerie music (from Derek McKeon) against challenging visuals from artist Peter Rahul.

ZONES explain: "Set in a swamp of iridescent video fx, the band takes us on a voyage through sonic waterfalls and waves of tape warbled guitar lines. Through amassing their collection of 80s-era video gear from thrift store finds, McKeon and Rahul dove into an oasis of video feedback and echoing alpha channels. The video sequence was filtered through a video-processing ecosystem as the two choreographed visual effects in real-time with the audio."
