London isn't always the answer.
When Young Rebel Set sat down the record their new album, the experience of being a young, signed band with infinite options proved to be just too damn intoxicating. For guitarist Mark Evans, the problem was obvious.
"We were drinking too much and sitting around doing fuck all everyday" he explains, "thinking we'd made it because we were in London recording an album".
Re-locating to Glasgow, Young Rebel Set were finally able to find some headspace. Paul Savage sat in on sessions, applying a sense of discipline which allowed the band to relax into the studio process.
Psychedelic shuffle meets blue eyed indie soul, new album 'Crocodile' drops later this year. Comeback single 'The Lash Of The Whip' is already a radio staple, with its neat, chiming Byrds style chords matched by a rough 'n' ready rock vocal.
Young Rebel Set sat down for a live session recently, swapping the confines of their Glasgow studio for something a little more downbeat. An intimate, tender rendition, you can watch it first on Clash.
