Yasmin Kadi was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, but was forced to flee her homeland due to escalating violence.
Coming of age in London, there have always been many different sides to her, reflecting the twists and turns of her own life.
A highly individual artist, Yasmin uses the inspiration of Afrobeat to fuel outspoken new track 'No Drama'.
It's a song about speaking out, about throwing off ancient shackles and accepting yourself for who you are.
Yasmin tells us: “Growing up in Africa, you don't really have a voice, especially as a female… You always had to suppress how you felt and your opinions didn't really matter to a certain extent, so I was determined naturally as I got older to just speak my mind!”
'No Drama' certainly does that. An empowered and downright funky piece of future soul, the summer-fresh Afrobeat influence means that rebellion has rarely been so enticing.
