Premiere: Wrangler – Lavaland

Brand new three piece with some familiar faces...

Probing, scientific synth-pop, Wrangler hark back to the method (but not the sound) of the post-punk era.

Accepting that anything is possible, the three piece seem to charge in as many new directions as possible, putting preconceptions to the sword.

A glance at the cast reveals some familiar faces. Stephen Mallinder is highly regarded for his work with Cabaret Voltaire, while Phil Winter should be familiar from stints in Tunng and Lone Taxidermist.

Alongside this, John Foxx associate Benge lends a hand, following a lifetime of working with antique electronics. It's an imposing line up, one laden with experience and enthusiasm for pursuing new sounds.

Debut album 'La Spark' is out now, with Wrangler set to play a handful of live shows. Alongside this, the trio have prepared a new video.

'Lavaland' is one of the LP's most direct moments, with the husky, strained vocals displaying echoes of punk. The synth squelches are a hallucinogenic pastiche of the electro pop format, with the track itself veering and skittering in several different directions.

Check out the video now.
