Vito Camaro isn't his real name, but it's real enough.
The producer suffered a traumatic break up last summer, plunging head-first into a depressive episode.
Prescribed a course of anti-depressants, the drug ruined his sleeping pattern – lying awake at night, he became drowsy, somnambulist during the day.
In an effort to tire himself out Vito took to driving around London at night, playing Prince and Ginuwine until the sun came up. Then he'd return home, and make beats throughout the day, while others went about their lives.
It's from this process that Vito Camaro emerges. Slinky, slumped beats, the fractured percussion is blended with lurid, G-Funk style synths delivered with a sharp R&B panache.
Vito will release a new EP this month, with Clash able to premiere the video for 'Ten Goddam' as a preview.
The garish colours represent the chaotic sensory world of anti-depressants, the faintly numbing clip echoing the music itself.
