A husband-wife duo, Erika and Simon Angell manage to span the distance between Sweden and Montreal.
Using the name Thus Owls for their music, the pair recently completed their new album. 'Turning Rocks' is fuelled by the kind of cute interplay which could only come from a long term relationship, with fizzing 60s organs matched against almost folk-style melodies.
Out on April 7th, 'Turning Rocks' will be preceded by new cut 'As Long As We Try A Little'. Opening with soft piano chords, it's a work of quiet intensity which builds and re-builds across its near five minute span.
Joe Yarmush takes control of the visuals, an intriguing search with an unexpected end. Thus Owls explain:
"For this video, Thus Owls turned to friend, fellow musician and filmmaker Joe Yarmush. Though the song itself tells the story of two sisters in Sweden, and one their untimely fates, the video instead tells a more abstract story about two brothers in Montreal during the winter. The video also features Simon and Erika Angell from Thus Owls. The narrative unfolds after the brothers receive an envelope with a simple note inside written in Swedish that says 'Det är tid', translated, 'It's time.'"
