The piano often gets a raw deal in modern pop.
After all, just look at the antecedents: Liberace? Billy Joel? It just doesn't bear thinking about.
The Fruitful Earth hail from South London, and match effortlessly moving pop songs to – gasp! – the piano. Front-woman Sarah Blair leads the pack, with producer Andrew J Jones assisting on forthcoming album 'Rising Sun'.
Out on May 12th, Clash is able to bring you a small preview. 'Firebird' will be familiar to all who have caught The Fruitful Earth in concert – opening with cascading piano notes, it unravels with a gentle grace.
