Premiere: Run Rivers – ‘Some Kind Of Mystery’

It's a subtle new track bound by mystery...

Everything Run Rivers touches has a certain quality.

Subtle but draped in mystery, there's an evocative atmosphere that runs through all of his work.

Real name Chris James, the songwriter returns with bold new single 'Some Kind Of Mystery', a curiously off piste narrative.

Out now, the single was partly inspired by an art installation, and this visual quality is emblematic of the way Run Rivers approaches his lyricism.

Chris explains…

“Some of the lyrics were inspired by an art installation I went to with Xavier Perkins about an astronaut’s experiences in space. At the time I didn’t expect the idea to turn into anything, but I guess it kind of stuck in my head and when I was working on the song further down the line it seemed to fit.”

The full video picks up on this, with acclaimed director Xavier Perkins piecing together the clip from footage he shot in Sweden some time ago.

Run Rivers: “Working with Xavier is great, he always comes up with something that I love and when the song was finished I approached him about making a video for it. He made it from film he shot in Sweden a few summers ago that has a lot of mysterious nature in dark and golden light images. I like how he’s put it together in a way that’s not too literal, that still really captures the mood of the song.”
