Premiere: Royal Canoe – ‘Peep This’

Shot for a mere $24.57...

Canada's Royal Canoe are used to making a little go a long way.

The band work independently, pushing their shoe-string budget to the limit.

With a new album coming in January the group's Glass Animals style summertime jams are set to light up the darkest weeks of winter.

New track 'Peep This' is online now, a slice of lovably wonky melody that illuminates everything it touches.

The video for the track was shot on iPhone and cost a measly $24.57, but it pushes their imaginations further and further.

Royal Canoe explain…

In our decade of being a band, we’ve approached our music videos from every angle imaginable. We've found ourselves carting film supplies through a desert, we've shot a video while maneuvering through a massive bike jam, we’ve built elaborate sets, lip-synced, danced around like idiots (more of that in this video).

We’ve also been lucky enough to collaborate with so many talented people who have been so generous with their time and energy.

For the newest Royal Canoe video, we found ourselves in a time-crunch, and instead of scrambling to call in a million favours and spend loads of money that we didn’t have, we hunkered down and attempted to make a video with a $0 budget all on our own.

Armed with a few loose ideas, a bluetooth speaker strapped to a belt, and a couple of smart phones, Matt P and Matt S shot the video in a few hours. In the end, perhaps because of its simplicity and impulsiveness, it turned into one of our favourite vids.

Tune in now.
