Toronto husband-wife duo share their psychedelic new video for ‘The Sea’...

An electronic music duo that their teeth writing folk music in a small valley town in the Canadian Rockies after escaping an oppressive cult; Once A Tree are far from your average married couple!

Jayli and Hayden Wolf forged their life together around the music that allowed them to escape, initially performing in cafes and busking on the street, before winning a songwriting competition that involved them flying to Toronto to shoot a music video.

Arriving with nothing more than their suitcases and a guitar, the couple never booked a return flight – resolving to stay in the city where they could take their musical careers to the next level. Hayden was accepted into the Remix Project – where Jessie Reyez found her sound, and dvsn’s Daniel Daley works as recording arts program leader – soon enough the Wolfs were reborn Once A Tree.

Building their reputation through a concoction of addictive pop melodies and pulsating down-tempo soundscapes that wash over your ears, the duo are premiering the video for ‘The Sea’, taken from their new album 'Phoenix', which they created themselves while travelling in the Dominican Republic.

“We wanted to create something psychedelic and carefree to pair with the dreamy tone of the song,” they explained via email. “‘The Sea’ can stand for anything: passion, love, loss. Anything that can consume you.”
