MJ Cole and Freya Ridings have shared the powerful video for their new collaboration 'Waking Up'.
The veteran producer has sculpted brand new EP 'Waking Up', with MJ Cole continually thinking outside the box.
Hooking up with some special guests, MJ Cole stepped into the studio with striking vocalist Freya Ridings.
The two combine on the brooding title track, with 'Waking Up' displaying an atmospheric side to MJ Cole's production.
Fil Fury directs the video, and it picks up on the songwriting to deliver something mysterious, something that reveals its truths slowly.
Speaking on the video, Fil Fury says: “It was an honour to be asked to create visuals for such a mesmerizingly beautiful song. I was responsible for creating the EP album art, so naturally wanted to follow up and push the visuals for a film execution. I wanted to detail somebody waking up and floating, lost in their thoughts/dreams/memories. An abstracted frozen moment of time with a contrast of classic styling with a street edge to it. The boy in the film, is in fact my son – so this was a very special project to bring to life.”
MJ Cole adds: “I always had a Gothic cathedral-like setting in mind, something with space, reverb, air. The idea of floating, levitating, came from Fil and the visuals compliment the record perfectly. It brought a tear to my eye to see the first draft. It was meant to be. I’ve been lucky enough to have had some incredible videos accompany music I’ve worked on over time but this one really takes the throne…."
