Premiere: Melt Yourself Down – ‘The God Of You’

A fiery return...

Melt Yourself Down have always been a meeting point, a junction for fresh ideas.

The collective's self-titled debut album blew a hole in 2013, with its almighty fusion of afrobeat, punk, jazz, funk, dub, and more erupting into a heady brew.

New album 'Last Evenings On Earth' is – if anything – even more intense, with Melt Yourself Down frontman Kushal Gaya choosing to sing only in English this time round.

The reason? To make his point as clearly as possible.

It's something that comes to incredible effect on new cut 'The God Of You', a politicised return that takes a scathing view of modern 'progress'.

Kushal explains: "It seems that we are repeating the same cycle as a species as we did 50-60 years ago. Racism, gender issues and warmongering are still very much burning issues. It also seems the basic reaction to these issues always have an external manifestation, we tend to point the finger towards something else than ourselves. Maybe it is time to point the finger at ourselves and think that the problem is not outside us but very much an internal matter."

Clash is able to premiere the provocative visuals – check it out now.
