Premiere: Liela Moss – ‘Wild As Fire’

A bold return ahead of her new solo album...

As lead singer of The Duke Spirit Liela Moss was an arresting, powerful presence.

Now working as a solo artist, she has retained that intensity, but opted to express it in some rather different directions on new album 'My Name Is Safe In Your Mouth'.

Out on November 9th, it was largely constructed in Somerset, with the beautiful English countryside acting as an appropriately inspirational backdrop to the recordings.

New song 'Wild As Fire' is online, with its dappled psychedelic qualities matched to an intimate vocal from Leila.

We're able to share the visuals, a neat counterpart to the song itself following a shoot in Somerset.

She explains:

The video was shot in deep Somerset, in wild remote countryside! The photographer Ren Rox (who created the album cover image with film and lens filters only, no digital intervention!) shot and directed the video, as I really wanted her aesthetic to overlap into these first visual moments for the album. Her ideas celebrate vibrancy and found-forms in nature and she brings a lush, filmic quality to what is a very simple and humble piece.

Ren followed me like a shadow on several of my walks, through fields and along hidden tracks that are usually hard to find. She tried not to disturb me much as I meandered through the fairly secret places I had often walked to think about the songs on the album, to try melody out loud where nobody could hear me! These overgrown spaces are where I occasionally go and consider lyrics and ask the trees for answers… or just absorb more oxygen.

Tune in now.
