At its heart soul music thrives on a certain honesty.
Perhaps it's derived from the blues, or maybe even the influence of gospel – that inimitable quality known as soul seems to find the performer pouring their heart out, telling their story with gripping, unerring honesty.
Kwabs is most definitely an honest artist. Blessed with a powerful voice, the newcomer has caused an enormous stir during the opening months of 2014 with a series of cuts which match soulful influences to cutting edge production.
New single 'Pray For Love' finds Kwabs working with Ben Drew – perhaps known as Plan B. It's a wonderful collaboration, with the stirring, gently euphoric arrangement providing a soft cushion for what must rank as Kwabs' most engrossing, engaging vocal performance yet.
Out on May 20th, Emil Nava stepped in to work on a video for the track. Honing in on the relationship between two siblings, it's a beautifully shot clip one, which matches a tender emotional treatment against often striking visuals.
