Premiere: Junk Drawer – ‘Year Of The Sofa’

It's the whimsical tale of a lonesome cowboy...

Belfast group Junk Drawer were one of the stars on last year's excellent DIY compilation 'A Litany Of Failures Volume II'.

Part of a flurry of bands lighting up Belfast right now, the Northern Irish group recently decided to give their slo-mo guitar pop jewel 'Year Of The Sofa' a release of its very own.

Stripped from incoming album 'Ready For The House', the knackered pace is reminiscent of Galaxie 500, while the interweaving barbed wire guitar lines could be the work of Television.

Stevie Lennox from the band said:

"Written during one of many ongoing bouts with ennui, our nameless hero spends more time preparing for the mythical perfect moment than actually carrying out said plans. They remain largely an observer, wallowing in languor and taking refuge in stolen moments with Prestige Television™ when conscience permits as more an observer. Music arrived almost fully-formed at a single practice, but took a year to be finalised. Funny."

We've got first play of the video, and it continues the self-effacing theme of the lyrics, featuring a lonesome cowboy rambling around Belfast.

Tune in now.
