Premiere: Joan As Police Woman x Benjamin Lazar Davis – ‘Broke Me In Two’

From new album 'Let It Be You'...

Joan As Police Woman is a singular, uniquely independent artist.

But that doesn't mean she's not continually seeking out like minds. New album 'Let It Be You' is a full collaboration with Benjamin Lazar Davis, the two artists crossing swords on a studio endeavour.

Out now, it's an impressive return. The voice of each artist remains distinct, but it seems that this collaboration has pulled out fresh elements from both.

Clash is able to premiere the video for 'Broke Me In Two', and it's highly entertaining. Renowned actor Fred Armisen takes the lead role, he explains: "I loved working on this video. I already knew I was going to feel this way about it because I admire and love the music and visual artwork of Joan As Police Woman. Videos, cover art, etc. She told me about this project and about Benjamin Lazar Davis. Then she sent me the music. SO IMMEDIATELY GREAT. Even though I already said yes to doing the video, in my head I said 'yes!' again. We shot it at this auto repair shop in Brooklyn. It looked really cool. Not too new but still neat and full of character. I don’t know how they got them to agree to let this production take over the garage. Joan and Benjamin were already wearing these mechanic uniform overalls. I was supposed to lip sync to the song, but there’s that not-four-four timing, so Joan was my conductor, right in my peripheral vision, showing me where the one is so that I could match up to the beat. That melody, it’s so good. I couldn’t stop hearing it, long after we finished shooting."

Check it out now.
