The Welsh diaspora has led to some curious tales.
Take the story of John Evans. A Welsh explorer, he charted the vast expanses of the North American continent in a futile attempt to trace a tribe of Welsh speaking Native Americans.
His story passed down in folklore, Gruff Rhys decided to re-trace his steps. Penning songs along the way, the experience is laid out in new album 'American Interior'.
Matching his wonderfully eccentric brand of indie pop to revealing, often emotionally bare lyrics, it's an album which is both easy on the ear and quite challenging.
New single 'Liberty (Is Where We'll Be)' will be released on July 21st – check it out below.
Alongside this, Clash can unveil a delicate session video of 'American Interior'. The title cut of his new album, Gruff Rhys is shown strumming through the track with no accompaniment. An effortlessly sweet performance, you can check it out below.
