Grasscut are an inquisitive phenomenon.
The duo – Andrew Phillips and Marcus O'Dair – bring together different disciplines, vastly different influences.
Releasing two albums on Ninja Tune, the ambitious, left field pairing fused electronics to near classical flourishes, deeply English songwriting to an often challenging sonic palette.
New album 'Everyone Was A Bird' will be released next month on Lo Recordings, with renowned landscape writer Robert MacFarlane providing providing liner notes.
Clash is able to premiere the video for new track 'Curlews' and it's a beautiful introduction to their next step. Vivid, at times quite intense, the track matches soft, purring vocals against swirling strings and the onward rush of electronic production.
The accompanying visuals were shot by Pedr Browne and seem to exemplify the project's sense of place. Wonderfully English, the simple clip layers over some lysergic visual effects on monochrome landscapes.
'Everyone Was A Bird' will be released on May 18th. Check out Grasscut at London's Electrowerkz on June 8th.
