Melbourne has always been a hub for the arts, a place for like minds to congregate.
That's where friendships found one another. A duo rooted in electronic production, their music – tattered, intoxicating – has a DIY feel.
Recently signing to New York's Mermaid Avenue, the pair have supported everyone from RL Grime to Shigeto.
Clash is able to air the video for new track 'Monarch To The Kingdom Of The Dead'. Slouched hip hop rhythms, squelching synths and neat vocal samples, there's an artful side to friendships' work.
Misha explains:
"friendships' music has always been strongly connected with the club scene, the energy the rhythms and the big fat bass beats insights movement. We wanted to adapt that sound to something more everyday and perhaps even mundane, and see how that energy connected and influenced with the 9 to 5. It was important for us to represent this side of friendships and to take it away from the mirror of subculture."
