Dylan Cartlidge does things his own way.
Growing up in Redcar – a small town within sight of Middlesbrough – he was far away from anything resembling a 'scene', allowing his music to grow into some wild, unfettered shapes.
New single 'Scratch, Sniff' is a product of this unique hot-house environment. Distorted but deliriously infectious, the soulful tinge in the vocal emphasises the force of Dylan's irrepressible personality.
Still only 22 years old, his work feels like an ATLien transplanted to the North East, the grind of that post-industrial environment fused with some surreal alt-pop word-play.
The visuals find Dylan Cartlidge lost in a hospital ward, observed by some hidden but largely unseen force.
Is he a prisoner for his own good? Or the good of others?
