Wales has always a had a bustling, close-knit music scene.
Yet the past few years has seen Cymru really excel. A series of new groups have come our way, and – whilst they might have become household names – there's more than enough potential there to ensure that all eyes remain on Wales.
Cut Ribbons first caught our eye earlier this year, releasing a one off cassette through Jen Long's ever-reliable Kissability label. Returning with new EP 'Bound In Love' it seems that the Llanelli five piece have managed to mature into something quite special.
Out now, the EP demonstrates a breadth, a subtlety to their songwriting to go alongside that nascent pop touch. With the year drawing to a close, Cut Ribbons have decided to shoot a video for the title cut – and Clash are lucky enough to premiere it.
Opening with jagged, piercing guitar lines, the twin vocal lines wrap around one another with a real sense of intimacy. Shot in the fading light on a Welsh beach, the video for 'Bound In Love' features a young woman dancing with clear abandon.
It's touching, oddly affecting with her innocence matched against such hugely promising music.
Watch it now.
