Cold Ocean Lies are almost too young to know any better.
Four young tykes from Birmingham, fuse shoegaze with a sense of the gothic, rock grandeur with something intimate.
New single 'The Game' seems to bring these elements together into a neat package. Produced by Cam Blackwood, it's a soaring introduction, bristling with energy, spite and youthful venom.
The guitars are crisp, given an added edge by the production. It's the vocals, though, which lead the way: sharp, clear and full of ambition, it's the sound of a band going places.
