Amidst the splintered remains of dubstep, Cloud Boat stuck out through their sheer originality.
Fusing an awareness of classical composition with fractured electronics and a warm bass sound, the duo's early productions quickly caught attention.
Snapped up by R&S offshoot Apollo Records, debut album 'The Book Of Hours' followed in 2013 and marked Cloud Boat out as a singular voice in British dance music.
Emotionally engrossing, the material contained on 'The Book Of Hours' seemed to continually shift and change with Cloud Boat emerging as something quite distinct.
A brand new single, 'Carmine' is available as a free download HERE. One of the duo's most direct statements yet, 'Carmine' is an entrancing, evocative return which is rooted in memory.
Cloud Boat explain: "'Carmine' is a journey through the mind of a childhood companion. The image of him is so old and faded that we believe he may be a figment of our imagination, but he now exists more completely as a friend and as a memory in this song."
Directed by Chris Toumazou, you can watch the video for 'Carmine' first on Clash.
