It's been five years since Cara Dillon released her last album.
But then, these things take time. A slow, pensive songwriter, Cara Dillon recently reflected on the methods of her artistry: "We don’t search for material in the conventional sense… There is a wealth of songs that I know and over time the songs tend to find me."
And so she waited. New album 'A Thousand Hearts' will be released on May 19th, with Cara Dillon's husband Sam Lakeman stepping in on production duties.
A remarkably fresh, fragrant return, 'A Thousand Hearts' matches folk influenced material with a few curveballs – such as a cover of 'River Run' by little known 90’s indie pop act Suddenly Tammy.
Explaining the choice, Dillon described it as "a beautiful song about River Phoenix – it’s something we used to do at soundchecks and it became part of what we do".
Out on May 19th, Cara Dillon has handed a neat preview to Clash. Album cut 'Shotgun Down The Avalanche' has been re-worked – check it out below.
