Premiere: Black International – ‘Animal Without Backbone’

Recorded in a former Victorian manse...

The room a track is recorded in makes a huge impact on the song itself.

It's there in the acoustics, obviously, but it also traces an outline on the music, supplying a palpable sense of atmosphere.

So when Black International began recording in an old Victoria church manse, they knew the spirits they were invoking. Intense, noir-shaded songwriting, the band worked alongside sound engineer Andrew Bush (The Twilight Sad) to capture a rare intensity.

New single 'Animal Without Backbone' is available now, and it's a sharply poetic mixture of visceral music and vivid lyrics.

Black International will release new album 'A Lesson In Repression' on October 30th.
