Antix is a radical voice, both in terms of what he says but also how he says it.
A hip-hop artist who continually faces the future, the rapper has a politicised edge to his material which manages to be both enormously engrossing and openly emotional.
Recently appearing at Field Day, Antix has a plethora of live shows coming up. For now, though, Clash is lucky enough to be able to air a short film from the rapper.
'Afshin's Song' was inspired by – and dedicated to – the work of Iranian visual artist Afshin Naghouni. A child prodigy, he earned nationwide fame at a young age before tragedy struck at a local party.
With both men and women mixing freely, nearby police arrived to break up the party – violence ensured, Afshin fled to a nearby rooftop and fell.
Left paralysed, he underwent years of therapy before finally learning to paint again. It's an extraordinary story, rendered in careful, matter-of-fact terms by Antix on a track which is both inspiring and respectful.
