60s inspired troubadour Paul Orwell manages to re-interpret his influences in a new way, adding a jaded, modern perspective to those classic sounds.
New single 'You're Nothing Special' is a case in point. Opening with swampy Hammond organ chords, the track suddenly splits into a searing 12 string guitar riff and Orwell's sneering vocals.
The accompany visuals have a 60s theme, echoing classic Swinging 60s flick 'Blow Up'. As the vocal intones "you're nothing special" we're left to wonder: does the songwriter mean the model, the photographer or the vacuous nature of fame?
