Ólafur Arnalds Shares Powerful New Version Of ‘momentary’

Constructed in collaboration with VOCES8...

Ólafur Arnalds is without doubt one of the finest composers at work just now.

The Icelandic artist has a deeply influential sound, yet his work remains singular, the product of an artist with a questing mind.

2018 album ‘re:member’ was a stunning achievement, taking the scope and scale of his artistry to fresh levels.

Followed by an extensive spell on the road, Ólafur completed more than 140 performances in every corner of the globe.

A brand new 4LP box set completes the ‘re:member’ story, and it's out now on Mercury KX.

An audio-visual extravaganza, the new box set contains an entirely distinct rendering of his composition 'momentary'.

Ólafur Arnalds and VOCES8 unite on this new choir version, a pointed, riveting, highly emotional listening experience.

The composer explains…

“I always thought momentary could be a choir piece and this arrangement accentuates the feel of the original piece in a way the feels very natural to me.”

“It continues the natural progression of how the music of ‘re:member’ has developed since its release and the performance by VOCES8 is mournful and full of longing. Beautifully human.”

A full video has been shot for the song, with director Máni M. Sigfússon utilising the talents of actors Haraldur Ari Stefánsson and Nana Finnsdóttir.

A tale of love, loss, and heartbreak, with a twist in the ending, it's the engrossing widescreen experience Ólafur Arnalds' music deserves.
