Songs are funny things – sometimes they can take years to finish, while on other occasions it can simply fall into place with remarkable ease.
Mr Fogg is a studio bound aesthete, an artist whose fastidious approach to sound is well known. Yet it appears that new single 'Headlock' took almost as long to write as it does to listen to…
A collaboration with Valgeir Sigurdsson, the stuttering beats and warm bass are matched by a chorus so contagious that you'll struggle to get it out of your head for the rest of the day. Mr Fogg explains: "I'm my own songs' worst enemy sometimes. This one came to me very quickly and somehow it just felt too easy, so I spent a long time trying to over-complicate things. In the end I just had to admit defeat and embrace its simplicity."
Out on March 11th via Kicking Ink Recordings / Kompakt, the single comes matched with a typically inventive video. Shot five times in parallel, Mr Fogg forms a one man band in a clip that matches the cheeky inventiveness of the music itself.
