Mitski Shares ‘Star’ Video Ahead Of UK Tour

She plays Edinburgh this week...

Mitski has shared the wonderful video for ‘Star’.

The new clip was directed by film maker Maegan Houang, and the two have a long-standing creative relationship – the duo sculpted the videos for ‘Puberty 2’ cut ‘Happy’ and ‘Laurel Hell’ highlights ‘The Only Heartbreaker’ and ‘Stay Soft’.

Out now, ‘Star’ is typically beautiful, the timeless monochrome aspects reminiscent of Japanese director Kenji Mizoguchi.

Removing the narrative, ‘Star’ feels like a moving painting, with its dream-like atmosphere. Maegan Houang comments…

“Unlike the more narrative/concept driven videos Mitski and I have done together in the past, I wanted this video to encapsulate the impressionistic circularity we all experience. Mitski’s UK tour opens with a pair of sold out Edinburgh shows this week; she headlines All Points East on August 18th.
