Mala ft. Danay Suarez – Noches Suenos

Vivid new promo

Bass is a universal language.

2012 saw bass culture open itself up to new influences, with a host of first generation dubstep producers looking beyond the Western frame of reference. Mala's full length epic 'Mala In Cuba' was an astounding achievement, melding soundsystem tradition to the Cuban lifestyle.

The producer has performed a handful of live shows to date, but each one has been an event. Joined by guest musicians, Mala has been able to coax something special, something unusual out of his material.

Stand out track 'Noches Sueños' featured the vocals of Danay Suarez, and seemed to be close to dub reggae. Soulful, but with Cuban vibes, the track has now received the video treatment.

The visuals are lush, beautiful, capturing the incredibly vivid nature of life on the island. Directed by Léa Rinaldi, it's an appropriate counterpoint to Mala's dramatic, sweeping music.

Watch it now.

Why not finish with some words of wisdom from Mala? "Frequencies are universal and it’s just down to the people shaping the frequencies to be adventurous and creative. It’s very easy to get complacent and stay in your comfort zone. It was a blessing for me to be forced into an unknown where I'm a bit uncomfortable."
