Kathryn Joseph Shares Startling ‘Weight’ Video

Scottish songwriter is currently on tour...

Kathryn Joseph has shared the powerful new video for 'Weight'.

The track was a standout moment on her beautiful album 'when i wake the want is', released last year to overwhelming acclaim.

One of the record's emotional centre-pieces, 'Weight' was given a seven inch release on February 16th, with brand new song 'Cold' on the flip.

Currently on tour across the UK, Kathryn Joseph has now shared the full video for 'Weight', constructed alongside Romanian visual artist Oana Stanciu.

Oana Stanciu's recent work fixates on photography and the moving image, and this rings out clearly in the stark new clip.

Utilising a series of black and white images, the trippy effects construct some absorbing visual distortions that work superbly with Kathryn's own songwriting.

Oana Stanciu says:

“Kathryn’s song goes into that deepest, darkest sadness inside you, and she pulls that out with the song. It pierces right into you and opens up your feelings, I can’t quite express this in words but hope I could capture some of that with the video. I wanted to play with the idea of the weight people carry; sometimes pained, sometimes abstract and sometimes calm and almost motionless – weightless – like when you are at the end of your emotions. I have always loved Kathryn’s music and was so excited to work on this video. I hope I have captured the spirit of her song.”

Tune in now.
