Jonathan Bree caught the pop bug at a young age, and never quite shook it off. He’s worked on a variety of different projects, from indie pop to straight-up pop, carefully finessing his vision in the process.
New album ‘PRE-CODE HOLLYWOOD’ – out on April 14th – finds Jonathan Bree reaching the apex of his vision, recruiting a raft of guests in the process. The cast moves from friends to pop greats, all brought together by his curatorial vision.
Picking up on the appeal of his 2017 smash ‘You’re So Cool’, ‘PRE-CODE HOLLYWOOD’ builds outward, blessed by the New Zealand artist’s incredible sense of world-building.
New song ‘Miss You’ is a case in point. A slinky disco mover, it moves between Jonathan Bree’s surrealist pop moves and Princess Chelsea’s glamorous vocal, while guitar chops are supplied by none other than CHIC founder Nile Rodgers.
The video is the third is in ongoing series set on Radio Vision, a fictional version of Top Of The Pops which plays with retro, nostalgic tropes.
