Kelcey Ayer may well be familiar to you.
One of the creative focal points in Local Natives, his work has rightly earned widespread praise, and no small degree of international success.
While on the road with Local Natives, though, he felt himself called towards solo duties, towards something a little different.
Jaws Of Love. stems from this. A new solo project, it finds the songwriter pulled in fresh directions, while still remaining true to himself.
“I used to think that to write about love, something had to be wrong”, he says. “I often got my material from pain, or insecurity, or problems – I thought I couldn’t write a good love song because I am in love and it’s going so well. But I’ve grown to realise that even in the most amazing relationships there are turbulent. The idea of ‘jaws of love’ felt so perfect for this project because it’s all about love’s trials and tribulations.”
New album 'Tasha Sits Close To The Piano' is out now, with Jaws Of Love. recently sitting down with La Blogothèque to shoot a full live session.
Clash has first play, and it's a wonderful, evocative clip, featuring Kelcey Ayer alone, individual, unique.
