J Hus Shares Interactive ‘Alien Girl’ Video

An ambitious visual project...

J Hus has shared the interactive video for ‘Alien Girl’.

The rapper re-shaped British music across a mixtape and two vastly influential studio albums, returning with his third LP – ‘Beautiful And Brutal Yard’ – last year.

Ending a three-year hiatus, J Hus soared to No. 1 on the Official Albums Chart, and brought together a roll call of collaborators who emphasised both his artistic breadth, and his cultural importance: DrakeBurna Boy, Popcaan, Jorja Smith, CB, Naira Marley, Villz and Boss Belly.

Album highlight ‘Alien Girl’ is a personal favourite of Hus, and it receives an ambitious new video. Picnic crafted the sleek 2D animation style, working in conjunction with film studio P4SD.

Conjoining narratives that visit an alien world, it brings the lyrics to vivid life, paying homage to J Hus’ world-shaping capabilities.

Picnic comments…

“We listened to the song and absorbed the lyrics – playful innuendos about sex and sci-fi – and it spawned a whole concept of two videos in two worlds playing out in the exact same time and composition but with two differing ends of the sexual anxiety spectrum…We were inspired by the separate art departments used on ALIEN (1979) where Ron Cobb and HR Giger answered their briefs without seeing each other’s work until way into production.”
