I Used To Be A Sparrow is a name draped in innocence.
So it comes as a big surprise to learn that the Swedish duo have years of musical experience behind them. Dick Pettersson and Andrea Caccese have previously plied their trade in punk groups, taking urgent, 120 second long hymns around the continent.
As they grew older, though, the songwriters found their attitudes shifting, changing. Tempos slowed, track lengths expanded and I Used To Be A Sparrow was born.
New album 'You Are An Empty Artist' drops on April 15th, representing another new direction for the duo. New track 'Warpaint On Invisible Children' gives an idea of what to expect: expansive songcraft and harmonies so soft they could fall apart at the slightest of touches.
Wholesome and sweet, 'Warpaint On Invisible Children' – as the title suggests – also has a menacing, melancholic side. Youth fades, beauty passes but memory remains.
