Christmas is capable of conjuring up varied emotions.
For some, it's a time of happiness, a time to be with loved ones. For others, it simple emphasises the vast differences – sometimes physical, sometimes emotional – between our lives and the people were care about.
This year, 6Music personality and all round charmer Huey Morgan is set to try something special. New single 'Christmas By The Side Of The Road' is a typically effervescent slice of songwriting from the Fun Lovin' Criminal, but with a charitable edge.
Out on December 16th, proceeds from the single will be donated to Help For Heroes and its Stateside counterpart Wounded Warriors. Huey Morgan commented recently: “These men and women not only risk their lives but they will also have to the deal with the long-term psychological effects of war – and it’s far too easy for everybody to take this for granted – out of sight, out of mind”.
For the video, Huey Morgan ventured out onto the streets to busk for passers by – making over £100 for charity in the process. “This wasn’t just about raising m¬oney and it wasn’t just about makin’ a video. It was about reminding people of the importance of these issues at a time of year when it’s easy to get wrapped up in the festivities. I had a great time – don’t be surprised to see me out there again doin’ my thing before Christmas is out!”
