There's something rotten in the state of England, and Hotel Lux are relishing every moment.
The London outfit make grinding, obtuse indie rock, the kind of spewed out noise that the capital is excelling at right now.
New single 'English Disease' is a clarion call for those who want something more, a tongue in cheek dig at the emptiness of lad culture and the bottomless pit of nostalgia we find ourselves in.
Frontman Lewis Duffin puts his drone to good use, unfurling lyrics about The Pub, Danny Dyer and Lady Diana.
Talking about the track, he adds: “The tune started as a joke initially. It’s intended as a bit of a tongue in cheek dig at ‘lad culture’. The song came about all sat around in our front room humming away melodies, trying to work out which would be best and went with that. The chorus was a bit of a joke too, found the idea Jean-Paul Satre and Danny Dyer side by side quite funny. Two of the greatest philosophical minds of the 20th and 21th centuries respectively.”

Underneath it all is a kind of fondness, however; it's wry, rather than cynical, while always searching for something deeper.
