Gruff Rhys – American Interior

An American exploration alongside a nonchalant puppet companion…

Outlandish solo artist and Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys has unveiled his new video ‘American Interior’ which is the title track from his forthcoming album.

Following the success of 2011’s ‘Hotel Shampoo’, Gruff Rhys' fourth solo LP is due to hit stores on May 5th. Alongside this, the Welsh songwriter will also be releasing an app, book and film to accompany the record.

Directed by Dylan Goch, the video is a colourful representation of Rhys’s 2012 tour of America in search of the remains of Jon Evans.

Evans (1770-1799) a Welsh farmhand traveled to America inquest of a Welsh-speaking tribe known as ‘The Madogwys’. Evans is incarnated in nomadic puppet form in the video, mastermind Rhys noted: "No special effects, colour tints, filters or animation were used in the editing – it's all pretty much as it happened. You had to be there – and now you can!"
