First Play: Javeon – Lovesong

Electronic soul...

What's in a name?

Javeon ditched McCarthy, beginning his shift away from the underground. Working with PMR, previous single 'Love Without a Heart' saw the producer cross swords with Julio Bashmore, resulting in a down tempo, glamourously melancholic sound.

New single 'Lovesong' continues the process. Out on October 28th, it finds Javeon working with MNEK to fuse crisp, punchy R&B textures with a direct, four to the floor feel.

The Ben Strebel-directed video for the track peels apart its sweet / sour, euphoric / downbeat dynamic. Focussing on a debauched wedding party, the scene unravels in slow motion as tears tumble down the bride's face.

Intercut with scenes of a London housing estate, the video finds beauty in ugly situations – and heartbreak in the happiest of circumstances.
