A power trio from Washington DC, Ex Hex – Mary Timony, Laura Harris, and Betsy Wright – may just have delivered one of the year's most deliriously fun guitar albums.
A searing, deeply DIY document, the trio's debut LP is a hugely enjoyable and unashamedly rock 'n' roll document.
Highlight 'Waterfalls' has received the visual treatment, with NYC underground cartoonist M. Wartella stepping in to craft the accompanying video.
M. Wartella explains his B-movie approach: "It’s basically Rock & Roll Space Vixens invade Washington, DC. I wanted to give the awesome ladies of Ex Hex the Ed Wood treatment and create something like a Russ Meyer or Corman film: Fast, Cheap & Out of Control."
Laden with guest appearances from vital punk figures, the video for 'Waterfalls' features Michelle Mae (The Make-Up), Francy Z. Graham (Chain and the Gang), Kid Congo Powers (The Cramps, The Gun Club), and Alec MacKaye (Ignition, The Faith).
