It's never easy to judge a band's intentions.
Take the current vogue for African music. In the wrong hands, it can come over as patronising – a vital force reduced to tinny guitar lines and the occasional hi hat. Thankfully, Egyptian Hip Hop seem to be taking things a little more serious.
New single 'Yoro Diallo' will be released on November 5th, and features fun-yet-earnest traces of African music. Out on R&S, the single comes equipped with a video which features the band performing in the abandoned gardens of a country house.
The end credits are written in an Oriental language, while the film itself is shaky, degraded, giving off the quality of an old Bruce Lee film.
