Eels – A Song For You

In aid of The Voice Project...

With a back catalogue which stretches back some 20 years, Eels have no reason to cover any other artist.

More than capable of sifting through rare moments in their own discography, the band are also wonderful interpreters of songwriters. Lynchpin and vocalist E, especially, is fond of tackling songs by other artists and recently attempted something special for charity.

Recorded on behalf of The Voice Project, a new video shows E tackling the Leon Russell classic 'A Song For You'. Shot simply, it finds the singer intent at the piano, studying the chords and scrambling to remember the lyrics.

A poignant, heartfelt rendering, E introduces Leon Russell's work by insisting that it is a major influence on his own output. With such melody matched to fragrant melancholy, we're inclined to see his point…

Watch it now.
