With their new career spanning collection sitting on the horizon, perhaps its time to re-evaluate Doves.
Often lumped in with indie landfill such as The Enemy, the band’s double helix control of critical and public recognition has made them one of the most significant acts of their generation.
Coming of age in a post-Britpop landscape where guitar music was scorned, Doves managed to overcome this with the sheer weight of their songwriting. Forthcoming compilation ‘The Places Between’ recounts the band’s past while also pointing to the future with a series of new tracks.
New single ‘Andalucia’ is amongst the pick of the bunch. Available now, the track contains all the elements that make Doves so loved by their fans: anthemic songwriting, soaring guitar lines and Jez Williams glistening voice.
