Dope Body – ‘Repo Man’

Shot by Theo Anthony...

Part of Baltimore's sprawling experimental community, Dope Body are responsible for flaming shards of avant guitar behaviour.

Returning with third album 'Lifer' – out this week through Drag City – the band continue to expand the boundaries of what is acceptable within hardcore.

New cut 'Repo Man' opens with titanic drums and guitars spewing out electrified noise. Hanging together by a thread, the power and poise contained therein is more equivalent to jazz, say, than Minor Threat.

Settling into a grinding, concrete groove, it's a track which is confrontational without being overtly masculine, Theo Anthony has set some visuals to the music, and they are equally inventive.

Working from a concept by Dope Body lead singer Andrew Laumann, the gritty VHS footage was supplied by Danny Lorden.
