In the beginning Dizzee Rascal was just another kid from the estate, going to raves, listening to pirate radio, and trying to make music happen.
Fast forward 20 years and he's one of the most recognisable faces in British music, someone who has made and broken countless records.
New EP 'Don't Gas Me' continues Dizzee's exploration of his rap and soundsystem roots, with new cut 'Quality' sampling a 1992 hardcore classic.
Pilfering from Nookie's legendary cut 'The Sound Of Music' it places Dizzee's bars against a true underground classic.
He comments: "Sampling ‘The Sound of Music’ by Nookie on ‘Quality’ was really special for me. It was one of my favourite songs as a child, and one of the songs that introduced me to hardcore/drum 'n' bass music as well as pirate radio culture, which has been a major influence in my career. I still love making beats and I’m glad I got the blessing to remake this classic."
Lyrically it's a sharp-edged take on the impact of fame, with Dizzee Rascal re-asserting that despite his hits all he really cares about is, well, 'Quality'.
The video was directed by Joel Spencer, and takes Dizzee down to Chrisp Street on the Lansbury estate in Poplar.
