Berlin based Curses has long sought to construct his own world. Musically, he’s influenced by dark cold wave cuts, fusing the gothic edge of post-punk with analogue electronics. Yet creatively, he exists beyond this, absorbing a cinematic sense of world-building into his practise.
Drawn into the orbit of Italians Do It Better – perhaps the best possible home for his art – Curses recently shared new album ‘Another Heaven’, an outstanding cross-section of his creative passions.
Album highlight ‘H2SG’ has been given the video treatment, and its dark, tender beauty points to broader themes within Curses’ work.
There’s a religiosity to the visuals, with Curses wearing a colossal pair of angel wings. A depiction of love, sin, and transgression, ‘H2SG’ seems to bring together some of the core themes of his work.
