Chet Faker – Archangel (Live)

Live in session...

No one sounds quite like Burial. No one.

The South London producer might have influenced a generation of beatsmiths – and spawned more than a few copyists – but no one has come close to matching his invention, his idiosyncratic sound or the taut, emotive nature of his music.

So when Chet Faker sat down to record a live session recently, he was clearly in an ambitious mood. Performing in an ex-Butter Factory in the regional town of Newstead, Victoria, Australia the songwriter was joined by his full band to run through a few tracks, including his breakthrough cover of 'No Diggity'.

Unusually, Chet Faker threw something else into the mix. Using an array of pedals, samples, found sounds and more the trio crafted a dense soundscape, before the singer began intoning snatched vocals from Burial's classic track 'Archangel'.

It's an unusual – but extremely beautiful – rendition, which acts as a faithful mirror piece to the original.
