Cara Delevingne Stars As Elton John In ‘Step Into Christmas’ Video

Festive favourite re-visited...

Cara Delevingne stars as Elton John in a new video for all-time festive smash ‘Step Into Christmas’.

The song was originally released on November 23rd, 1973 and it’s gone on to become a perennial Christmas smash. With streaming enabling a new generation to uncover Elton’s Advent bauble, ‘Step Into Christmas’ has become an evergreen on the festive countdown.

So, they’ve shot a new video. With Cara Delevingne as Elton.

On paper: bonkers. In actuality… brilliant entertainment.

The English model and actress gives the role gusto, throwing herself into the (piano) hot seat and fully embracing Elton’s starry-eyed glam pomp.

The two are close, too, with the duo having linked at Glastonbury. Elton picks up the tale…

I saw Cara at Glastonbury last summer, and we talked about how much we’d love to work together if the right idea came up. She’s hilarious to spend time with, we both have quite a self deprecating sense of humour. When someone suggested the idea of her playing me in a riff on the 1973 Step In to Christmas video, I just thought it was the perfect opportunity. Thank God Cara thought the same, because it came out great.

For her part, Cara felt this was a dream role:

Elton has always been an idol of mine, to say his music has had a deeply profound effect on me is an understatement. To be asked by him to PLAY him in this recreation was a dream that I didn’t know I had until it happened. Honestly I wish I could pretend to be Elton every day. I hope that Elton may one day return the favour and agree to play me in my not yet developed, written, pitched or funded biopic. Fingers crossed.

Alongside this, the new documentary Elton John: Never Too Late is streaming right now on Disney+.
